The Road to Minnesota
So for the first time since 2001 I’ve missed a flight. I rely on the
alarms on my phone these days, and apparently when I set the alarm it
didn’t save, so on Thursday I work up at the time the flight was
leaving. Great. I call Expedia to get on another flight, then United directly.
There’s nothing until Saturday, and even then I wouldn’t get to the
wedding in time, and I’d be in town for 1 night. So deciding that
wasn’t worth it, I just cancel & let my boss (the bride) know I’m not
coming. It’s great to feel wanted. My boss said she’d reimburse me and pay
anything to get me there. My other boss calls to say he wants to help
too. So I jump online and at first, it looks grim. $800 seems lowest
but $1200 is more common for a same day flight. Even flights Friday
look hideously expensive. I tell my boss & she says fine, just get
there. I do a little more digging, because asking the bride to pay so
much for you to come seems just rude as hell. Thank Google for
Hotwire! I find a flight combo on Hotwire that has a flight the same
time on Friday and has me returning on the exact same flights. And
this combo is cheaper than what I originally paid for my flight months
ago at $475. I jumped on it. So here I am in MN. Ready for the real wedding of the century! Screw
those Royals! The room is nice enough and the vending machine down
the hall actually has diet Mountain Dew, which is awesome (I just need
to break my $20 now lol). The resort, what I’ve seen of it so far,
looks like your average Indian casino Las Vegas knock off. I missed
our meeting today, but tonight is bowling which will be fun. No
pictures taken yet, but I’m sure there will plenty by the time I get
home Sunday night :)
